Development in
Historic Neighborhoods:
Why Appropriateness Matters

A Detroit Design Festival Happening
Wednesday, September 18, 6:30-8:30 pm
Preservation Detroit, 4735 Cass Avenue

Detroit's Midtown neighborhood is home to multiple local historic districts, as well as historic properties and districts that are on the state and national registers. It is also an area bursting with both new developments and adaptive reuse projects. Often there is a tension between preservation and development interests, but this doesn't have to be the case.

Preservation Detroit is hosting its Advisory Council member Amy Swift for a lecture and roundtable discussion with Michael Poris of McIntosh Poris Associates, Joel Schmidt and Liz Skrisson of DMET design, and Devan Anderson of Steven C. Flum Inc., among others.

About Us
Preservation Detroit (formerly Preservation Wayne) is Detroit's oldest and largest architectural preservation organization.

As the first Detroit recipient of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Honor Award, we have been working to honor Detroit's rich architectural and cultural heritage since 1975.

Over the last three decades, the scope of Preservation Detroit has grown to encompass the entire city, from historic homes to skyscrapers to sites of cultural significance.

Please join us in our mission to preserve, promote, and protect the neighborhoods and buildings that define the unique character of Detroit for generations to come.

The list of those who gave up time on their holiday weekend is long. Apologies in advance to anyone we missed!
